Seven people in court over drugs raid

Seven people appeared at court yesterday in connection with a drugs raid in the Capital.

Gary Yorke, 44, Andrew Baillie, 36, Kenneth Glen, 24, Lee Calder, 29, John Russell, 45, Darren Macholecki, 32, and Jean Rogers, 28, were charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act following a series of raids on Friday at addresses in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Lanarkshire.

Approximately 11.7 kilos of cocaine were recovered during the operation and the drugs were valued at around 500,000.

All seven accused made no plea or declaration at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and their case was continued.

Yorke, of Dalkeith, Baillie, of Shotts, and Calder, of Edinburgh, were remanded in custody.

Glen, of Dalkeith, Russell, of Forth, Macholecki, of Shotts, and Rogers, of Shotts, were released on bail.
