Sessions for would-be foster carers

MIDLOTHIAN Council is to highlight the importance of foster carers during Foster Care Fortnight this month.

As part of charity Fostering Network's "Make A Difference, Foster A Child" campaign, the council will be holding three information sessions across Midlothian: Monday May 16 at Tesco at Hardengreen, 11-3pm; Tuesday May 17 at Dobbies Garden Centre, 11-3pm and Thursday May 26 at Penicuik Centre, 10am-noon.

Sessions will give anyone interested in foster caring the opportunity to find out more about it. Foster carers will also be at the events to share some first-hand advice.

Midlothian councillor Jack Aitchison, cabinet member for social work, said: "Foster Care Fortnight is the ideal time for people to find out more about fostering and the skills and qualities needed. I would encourage anyone who has ever considered fostering to contact the council."
