A serious accident on the M8 in the early hours of this morning caused rush hour chaos.

The accident took place at around 6.30am on Friday morning at Junction 11 Stepps Road Westbound between the on and off slips near to Glasgow Fort.

Reports indicated that two of three lanes were blocked as a result.

Eyewitnesses have told other media outlets that a car and two motorbikes were involved in the accident with others stating that they saw a person on the ground following the incident.

Police have now confirmed that the motorcyclist was taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received multiple calls from members of the public about the crash on the M8 around 6.30am.

“Police and ambulance crews attended and the motorcylcist was taken to hospital as a precaution with non-serious injuries.”
