Serial thief sent to jail

A SERIAL housebreaker smashed his way into a woman’s home as she slept.

Brian Mallon shattered the window of the 54-year-old night shift worker’s patio door at 11am. The householder got out of bed and found Mallon standing in her kitchen.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that the 32-year-old thief was spotted carrying her laptop bag later that day.

Mallon, from West Calder, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to several charges of theft, having raided other properties previously.

Sheriff Eric Brown jailed him for a total of 32 months.
