Self-service booze alert

CONCERNS have been raised about self-service tills in supermarkets after an under-age customer was sold alcohol by an underage sales assistant in a test purchasing exercise.

Now SNP MSP Stewart Maxwell has written to supermarkets to highlight worries over self-service for alcohol sales. He said: "When you have one person supervising sometimes eight or more tills it is ridiculous to expect them to be taking the same amount of care and attention over a person's age as they would on an individual till."
