Security men hurt in armed bank raid

Two security guards were injured in what police described as an "appalling attack" by a gang of three armed men.

The security guards were transferring cash at the Clydesdale Bank in Stuart Street, East Kilbride, at around 10:30pm on Wednesday night when they were assaulted by the group, who were armed with weapons.

They were taken to the town's Hairmyres Hospital.

The gang fled the scene empty-handed.
