Seattle group to meet city businesses

A DELEGATION from Seattle is in the Capital this week to look at business partnerships.

Around 60 of the US city's most prominent business, government and non-profit sector leaders, known as the "travelling university", are visiting Edinburgh and Glasgow to meet some of the two cities' most ambitious companies.

The six-day visit from the International Study Mission, which has been organised by Scottish Development International (SDI), will explore what it means to be a "competitive region in a world economy".

The mission visits a different location each year, chosen for its competitiveness as one of the world's successful cities.

Anne MacColl, chief executive at SDI, said: "The invaluable face-to-face connections that will be made during this unique visit have the potential to generate new business for Scottish companies and to build important relationships with US business leaders."
