Search teams find diver's body

SEVERAL vessels and a rescue helicopter were yesterday involved in the search for a diver north of Mull.

Clyde Coastguard was contacted when a woman, who was diving with a group, failed to surface in Loch Sunart on the Ardnamurchan peninsula at about 12:30pm.

A lifeboat crew from Tobermory and a Royal Navy helicopter from HMS Gannet were leading the hunt, alongside local fishing boats.

Police later said a woman's body was pulled from the water.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said she had failed to surface from a leisure dive in the loch. Her body was recovered at 4:40pm.

A report will be submitted to the procurator-fiscal.
