Search is on for foster carers

A CAMPAIGN to encourage more people to become foster carers has been launched in the Capital.

Last year, the city council ran a successful drive to recruit foster carers for babies and young children under five.

Now more carers are needed for older children and teenagers with particular emphasis on finding more carers for boys over five.

City education leader Councillor Marilyne MacLaren said: "We encourage people from all backgrounds to become foster carers as we want a broad spectrum of people who can look after children in our care.

"Fostering is a very valuable experience. It improves the confidence and skills of a child or young person, ultimately leading to a happy and positive future."
