Search for missing journalist goes on

SEARCHERS again drew a blank yesterday in the hunt for missing Inverness-based journalist Clive Dennier.

Police traced his car on Friday in one of Britain’s most remote areas. It was the first clue to the whereabouts of the reporter – a keen hillwalker – since he disappeared on Monday.

Northern Constabulary said that following “extensive searches” across the Highlands after Dennier’s Volkswagen Polo was located in the Knoydart area west of Invergarry.

Yesterday, members of two mountain rescue teams, police dogs and coastguards from Fort William and Mallaig searched the area.

Kyle Lifeboat also scoured the shoreline from the water around Loch Hourn.

Invergarry is a village in the Great Glen, near where the River Garry flows into Loch Oich.

It is the centre for several wilderness walking routes – including into Knoydart, a peninsula in Lochaber. It can only be reached by boat or by walking from the nearest road 18 miles over 3,500ft hills.
