Scottish weather forces Trump team to fly home early

EVEN Donald Trump found he could not control the unpredictable Scottish weather.

The tycoon's flying visit to his planned 750 million golf resort in Aberdeenshire was cut short yesterday after heavy rain and cloud meant a helicopter trip over the Menie Estate had to be cancelled.

The billionaire jetted in from New York on Monday for a three-day visit to oversee the 50m already spent on the estate and plan future developments.

His wife Melania and son Barron flew in from Paris on Tuesday to join the Trump team which also includes Trump's son, Donald Junior.

The family and advisers were due to take a helicopter trip over the course yesterday to get an aerial view of progress. But the excursion was abandoned and the family decided instead to return early to the US.

During his short stay Mr Trump hit the first shot on the course, which he said was looking better than he anticipated. He said bookings will open next month for the course where play begins on 1 July next year.
