Scottish Virgin Media customers furious after service disruptions

Virgin Media services in the west of Scotland have been affected by major disruptions this evening.

Furious customers from Glasgow, Paisley and Renfrewshire have taken to social media to complain to the internet provider directly.

From 5pm onwards broadband and TV services have been out of service for some, however, phones are still working.

Virgin’s online ‘service status’ for TV users around Paisley said the issue will not be resolved until 9.25pm tonight.

Scots across the region took to Twitter to report the outages.

@Ned_Stevens1 said: “@virginmedia hi any know issues with TV services in the G73 postcode area. We’re getting a message on screen saying there’s a problem with the signal.”

@nicky_fisher tweeted: “no tv service in G61 area. Your phone line is down also. Do you have an estimate for a fix?”

@ChrisJBalmer fumed: “@virginmedia tried ringing 3 times now to discuss my account, wait 10-15 minutes each time only to be cut off? And I bet you charge for these calls. Can somebody call me back please!!?”

While @Lisa_Louise89 from Bearsden added: “@virginmedia tv boxes not working... two day wait for a engineer ! This is not acceptable at all.”

Broadband and TV services are affected due to a power issue at one of Virgin’s technical sites with engineers are currently working to resolve the firm said.

A Virgin Media spokesperson added: “We are aware of an issue impacting broadband and TV services in Glasgow. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
