Scottish police services job for council chief

EDINBURGH City Council's head of environment has been unveiled as the new chief executive officer of the Scottish Police Services Authority (SPSA).

Andrea McHugh, 39, currently has direct responsibility for some 1,700 council staff working on community safety and antisocial behaviour services, roads, waste and building services, and the city's parks.

She will take up her new post with the SPSA in the early summer.

She was appointed as SPSA CEO following an open UK-wide recruitment process, and will receive a salary of 113,000.

She said: "My job will be to ensure that we truly understand what our partners in policing need, and to translate that into the delivery of consistent, and improving, services. I know I join an organisation brimming with experienced, skilled professionals. My commitment will be to make sure we have the right systems in place to harness their talents."
