Sir Tom Hunter publishes EU referendum guide

Entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter has claimed that he finds the decision over whether to leave the European Union “even more confusing” than Scotland’s independence referendum, as he launched a free ebook offering “impartial” information to voters.

The businessman and philanthropist, who published his first ebook guide to help voters navigate their way through the confusing deluge of information surrounding the Scottish referendum in 2014, has created a second volume to help people make up their mins as to whether Britain should leave the EU.

Commissioned by his venture philanthropy organisation, The Hunter Foundation and published by the David Hume Institute and the Centre on Constitutional Change, the latest book includes analysis of topics such as migration, security and welfare.

He said the project was aimed at eliminating the “obfuscation, hyperbole and bluster” that surrounds the European referendum debate, with the book bringing together research from academics to examine the possible impact of different votes by the different parts of the UK. Sir Tom said the book had helped him to make up his own mind on which way to vote. He said: “I actually think that the EU decision is even more confusing than the Scottish referendum. We have got people from the same political parties ripping each other to shreds and we’ve got people putting forward what they say is facts when they are forecasts.”

The book, free to download from The Hunter Foundation website, considers what a Brexit would mean.
