Morrisons stores closing: Here are all the stores closing in Scotland and when, including cafes

Supermarket giant Morrisons has revealed the exact dates for when stores in Scotland are closing, as the retailer said the changes were a “necessary part of our plans to renew and reinvigorate” the chain.

A total of 52 in-store cafes, along with some of its convenience stores, florists, meat and fish counters and pharmacies, are shutting across the UK.

And Scotland is not immune to the closures, with two convenience stores and 13 in-store cafes to shut.

The convenience store on Peebles’ Old Town in the Scottish Borders and another in Stewarton, Ayrshire will close on Wednesday, April 16.

The Post Office that is situated within the Stewarton branch will shut three days earlier.

A statement issued on behalf of Morrisons said: “Morrisons has made the difficult decision to close some Morrisons Daily stores, some of which contain Post Offices.

“We fully recognise the inconvenience this will cause for our customers and apologise for the short notification as these branches close between April 9 and May 14.”

Morrisons will make 365 workers redundant, with all market kitchens and 52 cafes to close

The supermarket said the closures are part of a shake-up that will result in 365 people facing redundancy.

Eighteen market kitchens, 17 convenience stores, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies will also be affected.
