Nine-year-old Boyd Gibson sent the hand-written list of 12 players to Pittodrie as the Dons gear up for an early start in Europe.

But McInnes and chairman Stewart Milne may have to get the chequebook out, as Boyd’s list would cost Aberdeen in excess of £400 million in transfer fees, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronald and Gareth Bale all on the list.

Aware that McInnes is on the lookout for a striker after telling Scott Vernon and Josh Magennis they can leave, Boyd has also suggested Swedish ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chelsea forward Samuel Eto’o and AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.

Borussia Dortmund strikers Pierrre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski have been listed but the latter has already signed a pre-contract with Bayern Munich.

However, Kris Boyd - out of contract in the summer - is also on the list, and could be called on as a cheaper option.

The young Aberdeen fan has shown faith in the Dons backline, suggesting just one addition to the back four - Paris St Germain’s Brazilian stopper Thiago Silva - and seems content to stick with Jamie Langfield in goals.

He has also suggested AC Milan’s Kaka and Arsenal winger Theo Walcott to supplement the Dons midfield.

Posting an image of the list on the club’s official Twitter account, @aberdeenfc, the club promised: “We’ll be sure to pass them on to the manager!”
