Andy Murray re-imagined as Rene Magritte painting

The Belgian artist, famed for his surrealist paintings, created a portrait of a businessman with an apple in front of his face.

Created in 1946, it was painted as a self-portrait of the artist, and consists of a man in an overcoat and bowler hat standing in front of a sea wall, with a hovering green apple obscuring most of his face.

And Andy’s mother Judy shared a snap on Twitter of the Dunblane tennis star mocked up to look like the painting - but with a tennis ball instead of an apple hovering in front of his face.

In the portrait - dubbed Son of Tennis - Murray also has a tennis racquet in one hand, bowler hat and Adidas markings on the sleeves of his overcoat.

The tennis ace is also wearing a Union Jack tie, in a nod to the GB team’s Davis Cup final to be held in Gent, in Belgium.

The design was created by Nial Smith, the Edinburgh-based designer who also mocked up Murray as ‘Crocodile Dunblane’, and wearing a Hibs-inspired kit at Wimbledon.
