The picture emerged on Twitter just hours after the Dons went head to head against Dundee United in Sunday’s clash at Tannadice.

The small silver hatchback appeared to have been singled out for graffiti, which included spray painting the word “sheep” down the passenger side panel.

One Twitter user suggested that the car, which was spotted in Dundonald Street in Dundee, had been targeted by hooligans as the owner had left an Aberdeen scarf in the window.

Both the Tayside and Aberdeen divisions of Police Scotland said no reports had been made about the vandalism following the match, which Aberdeen won 1-0 thanks to a Kenny McLean goal.
