Scottish Labour conference: SNP hits at wish-list costs

THE SNP has accused Labour of putting out a wish list of un-costed policies equivalent to a £3,000 tax increase for every Scottish household.

Reacting to Labour's policy plans for next year's election, the SNP claimed Iain Gray had failed to say how he would be paying for a list of costly pledges.

They include the plan to reinstate the Glasgow Airport rail link, at 188m and a plan to extent free rail travel, costing 25m.

The SNP claims that if Labour was to introduce the Calman tax powers, which would allow Scottish ministers power over income tax, they would have to put it up by 5p just to pay for their proposals.

The SNP's Westminster leader, Angus Robertson, MP, said: "Labour plan to hit households and pensioners with a multi-billion pound tax bill to pay for their uncosted wish list."

He added: "Only the Labour Party could think it acceptable to put forward plans that will cost every Scottish household 3,000. After ruining the UK economy they are planning to ruin the economies of every home in Scotland."
