Scottish Gas staff dive in for charity swim in Forth

STAFF at the Scottish Gas headquarters in the city are set to brave the chilly waters of the Firth of Forth in the name of charity and they will be in good company.

Nine employees will swim more than a mile across the Firth of Forth to raise money for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres and the British Gas charity of the year, Make a Wish, with the group having already raised 2000.

They will be joined by former Great Britain triathlon champion Rick Kiddle, who has been helping to train the team. The group will swim from the Old Town Pier in North Queensferry to Hawes Pier in South Queensferry next Monday from 1pm, as part of Scottish Gas' sponsorship with Scottish Swimming.

Local yacht club Port Edgar and Edinburgh Leisure have donated rescue boats and crew to accompany the swimmers across the 1.6-mile open water stretch.
