Scottish Cabinet to repeat summer tour across country

THE Scottish Cabinet is to embark on another summer tour, it was confirmed last night.

The decision follows similar summer events in 2008 and 2009, when instead of meeting in Edinburgh, Alex Salmond and his top ministers gathered to discuss government business at venues around the country.

Four meetings will take place this summer, the venues are still to be announced. The events are usually accompanied by public meetings and evening receptions.

A spokesman for the First Minister said: "The public meetings on the day of the Cabinet have always been really well attended, sometimes to absolute capacity."
