Scott tops the grade league at Merchiston

A PUPIL at Merchiston Castle School is celebrating after becoming the first to achieve five A* grades at A Level.

Scott Warden, 18, from Edinburgh, is the first Merchiston pupil to achieve such outstanding results, gaining A* grades in Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Electronics. He now plans to go on to study at Oxford University to read Engineering.

Andrew Hunter, Headmaster, said: "Our congratulations go to Scott, his family and teachers for this remarkable achievement."

Mr Hunter also revealed that 79 per cent of pupils achieved A*, A and B grades.

He added: "Such a performance outlines the academic pedigree of the School and is a tremendous reflection on the approach of the boys, their teachers and parents."
