Scots wildlife charity is the bee's knees

A SCOTTISH charity beat hundreds of teams to win the title of the UK's best environment project at the National Lottery Awards.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust, based at Stirling University, was set up four years ago with lottery cash to raise awareness about the decline of bumblebees and the impact on the countryside and food production.

Its members work with the public, farmers and land managers to protect the species for future generations.

The event, at the Roundhouse in London, was attended by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly and boxer Amir Khan.
