Scots to lead study of eating

SCOTTISH researchers are to lead a major international study to discover what happens in the body to make humans feel hungry or think they have had enough to eat.

The £10 million research project, funded by the European Union, will bring together scientists from 19 European laboratories to investigate how our bodies respond to food and will be led by experts at Aberdeen University’s Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health.

It is also hoped that the findings of the five-year study will help the food industry produce foods to help tackle obesity as well as under-nutrition.
