Scots parents welcome arrival of Christmas babies

PROUD parents in Scotland have been celebrating this Christmas as their new arrivals made an appearance today.

The first Christmas baby was born in Glasgow’s Southern General to Cheryl McGarvey of Clydebank. Lacey McElhinney was born at 12.16am, weighing 8lbs 10oz.

Edinburgh Royal Infirmary welcomed baby Luke into the world, born at 1.14am to proud parents Julie Knight and William Reid from East Lothian.

The hospital reported that both mother and baby were doing well and were hoping to go home later today.

Cody McLean was born at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, weighing in at 8lb9.5oz to parents Antonia and Colin.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital welcomed the first girl to be born on Christmas Day. Becky Thompson and Chris Docherty welcomed Myah, weighing 7lbs 10oz, into the world at 3.20am.

Midwives at Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Hospital in Greenock were still awaiting their first Christmas babies as of 10am.
