They also found laptop computer containing "obscene images involving minors". It is alleged Connor spent four days luring children into his truck around Vaslui, Iasi and Brasov.

He then sexually abused them, filmed the abuse and downloaded it on his computer, police said. Police said the alleged victims were all from poor families, and Connor gave them money and food to come into his vehicle.

They said there could be as many as five victims, all aged between nine and 14 years old.

A police spokesman said: "Policemen in Vaslui's organised crime unit, in collaboration with the police's criminal investigation service have documented the criminal activity of a man, 33 years, from Scotland, on suspicion of child pornography.

Connor appeared in a Vaslui court on Monday charged with the sexual abuse of minors and making pornographic films.
