Scots councils cut back on their gifts

Scotland's local authorities have abandoned the tradition of sending a wedding gift to royal couples, with only a few preferring instead to donate public funds to a charity chosen by the couple.

Perth and Kinross Council will limit their expenditure to just 500 and donate the money to charity. The City of Edinburgh is marking the occasion by awarding 250 to the RAF Benevolent Fund. In 1981, Glasgow donated an entire building in Carlton Place to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
