Scotland’s weather: Heatwave set to end soon

YOUNG friends Jacob Lee and Harry Watts are hoping for yet more sunny weather, after a trip to the beach.

The boys, both from South Queensferry, enjoyed a paddle yesterday at Aberdour Silver Sands, which like much of eastern Scotland continued to bask in sunshine. But forecasters say the heatwave is set to end soon.

Average temperatures and showers are expected as the week progresses. Today is set to be a sunny and dry, although rain is due to arrive in the west by late afternoon.

The rest of the week looks unsettled, the Met Office said, although the south-east will enjoy the best of the weather.

Met Office Forecaster David Jackson said: “It’s gradually getting more unsettled as the week goes on. We will start to see a bit more cloud and a few scattered showers.”
