Both sides missed penalties either side of half time but it was Scotland who turned the screw and won the International Tournament fixture with two goals in under ten minutes securing the victory.
The match was seen as another showcase for much-hyped Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele, but the youngster was subbed on 60 minutes after a relatively quiet hour.
His replacement, Aberdeen’s Connor Barron, will claim the opener as his lofted shot following a goalkeeper found its way into the net, but England No1 Harvey Collins will almost certainly be credited with an own goal after the shot went over his head, hit the post, and cannoned in off his foot.
Jack Newman in Scotland’s goal had a more memorable evening, with his penalty stop on 38 minutes keeping the scores even as the sides went back to the dressing rooms at half time.
Barron’s goal was quickly followed by a sliding finish from Finn Ecrepont of Ayr United after a well-worked free-kick to ensure Scotland’s victory when the whistle was blown after 80 minutes.
