Scotland records both hottest and coldest temperatures in UK

SCOTLAND has recorded the hottest and coldest temperatures felt across the UK today.

Skye notched up a UK-wide high of 26C this afternoon, but temperatures in Shetland fell just short of double digits at 9C, colder than anywhere else in Britain.

Scotland has enjoyed above-average temperatures this May, with many places experiencing highs of more than 20C.

Bookmakers have slashed the odds on 2016 being the hottest year on record as parts of Scotland outdo European summer destinations like Rome, Barcelona and the Costa del Sol.
