Scientist given bowel cancer study funding

A CITY scientist has been awarded funding to study ways of preventing bowel cancer.

Edinburgh University's Dr Lesley Stark will investigate how aspirin and similar drugs can impact upon the disease, which is one of the country's most common.

The funding came from the Association for International Cancer Research, whose chief executive Norman Barrett said:

"We seek to fund the best cancer research wherever it takes place."
