Science festival gets ready to reveal Big Ideas

EUROPE'S largest science festival will take place over a two-week period in April, it has been confirmed.

The Edinburgh International Science Festival will run from April 2-15 at venues across the Capital, including Wonderama at the Assembly Rooms, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the National Museum of Scotland.

Now in its 19th year, the Science Festival attracts more than 70,000 people to its packed programme of over 140 adult and family events.

The Festival's programme combines 'Big Ideas' - a diverse selection of science-related talks and debates by some of the world's most eminent speakers - with "Wonderama" - a series of events aimed at families.

Organisers are still working on the full programme for this year's festival and full details are to be announced at a launch event in mid-February.

Among the highlights last year were talks by Robot Wars judge Professor Noel Sharkey and TV scientist Adam Hart-Davis, as well as experiments by psychology expert Dr Richard Wiseman.
