School’s in for summer

A SUMMER school aimed at developing the creativity of eight to 14-year olds will take place this August.

Freddie Main, head of design and technology at Merchiston Castle School, will launch MAKE Summer School to fill what he views as a gap in the summer camp market.

He said: “There is not enough emphasis nowadays on kids being encouraged to develop their natural creativity. By creating useful and fun projects such as paper plane launchers and wooden treasure chests through woodworking, we will equip the children with lasting skills as well as giving them a real sense of achievement, satisfaction and fun.”

The school will run at Colinton from August 20 to 24, between 10am and 4pm. Indoor and outdoor activities will be available, and wrap-around care is offered from 8.30am to 5.30pm. See www.makesummerschool.co.uk.
