Schoolgirl tells court of 'attack' by twin sisters

A TEENAGE girl yesterday told a court that she suffered a vicious attack by twin sisters in a school changing room.

Lucy Watson, 17, claimed she was punched and kicked by Mirriam and Sara al-Mashat as she lay on the floor at Jordanhill School in Glasgow. She said large clumps of her hair were also pulled out.

The court heard the incident started after Mirriam al-Mashat allegedly called Miss Watson a "white slut".

The 17-year-old sisters are on trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court accused of assaulting Miss Watson in the changing room on 27 October, 2008. They are also charged with committing a racist breach of the peace.

Miss Watson yesterday told the court she had previously been friends with the sisters before an argument started at lunchtime.

She said: "I kept asking 'What have I done', and Mirriam said, 'You know what you've done, you wee white slut.

"There was a lot of shouting and Mirriam was right at my face, and I said, 'Can you please get out of my face'. Sara then said, 'Don't be cheeky to my sister', and then punched me in the face.

The trial, before Sheriff John Baird, will continue later this month.
