School told to do better

SCHOOL inspectors have ruled that some "important improvements" have to be made in the learning community surrounding Castlebrae Community High School.

HMIe said more systematic and collective approaches to helping disadvantaged learners are needed, as well as the development of a shared system to recognise, reward and celebrate the achievement of young people and adults.

However, the inspectors also concluded that the community learning and development partners make a "significant impact" on learners' lives in an area of high deprivation.
