School pupils' canteen glory

AN EDINBURGH private school that gets senior pupils to run the canteen has won an award for its use of local produce.

Rudolph Steiner School was given the gold Food for Life Catering Mark from the Soil Association.

The school uses an unusual approach where final year pupils prepare the lunches for the rest of the students, with support from parents and teachers.

Teacher Alistair Pugh said the school has reduced cost, wastage and food miles.
