Salvation Army branches out

THE Salvation Army is to plant native trees in areas close to its Ashbrook home in Ferry Road.

The centre has been given 105 free trees as part of the Woodland Trust's More Trees, More Good campaign, which will see 100,000 trees planted across the UK, using a 700,000 donation from retailer TK Maxx.

The Woodland Trust's Victoria Hodson said: "Compared with the rest of Europe, we have very little tree cover. Copses of trees, hedges and small woods all make a positive impact on how local spaces look, and how people feel about where they live and work."
