Salmond helps tackle racism

FIRST Minister Alex Salmond was set to join fellow party leaders at Easter Road today at an event to show their support for tackling racism and sectarianism in Scotland.

Mr Salmond was to be joined by Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray MSP, Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Robert Brown MSP and Scottish Green Party leader and Patrick Harvie MSP for the "Show Racism the Red Card" event.

High-profile supporters, including Jackie MacNamara Senior and Michael Weir, and two first-team Hibs players were also expected to attend.

Mr Salmond said: "Racism, sectarianism and bigotry are utterly unacceptable."
