Salmond flies flag at green conference

First Minister Alex Salmond was travelling to Abu Dhabi today on a two-day visit that will include signing a groundbreaking deal on renewables when he attends the World Future Energy Summit.

The summit is an annual gathering of world leaders and thinkers committed to promoting advancement in renewable energy, and other prominent speakers will include UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and Premier Wen Jiabao of China.

This year, the event is being viewed as a valuable lead-in to the deal-making Climate Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June.
