Sales to aid care of OAPs

THE proceeds from the sale of two former care homes are set to be ring-fenced to pay for projects to help the elderly.

The city council has agreed to sell the former Liberton care home to Dunedin Canmore Housing Association for around 300,000, while the old Craigour care home is to be sold for around 350,000 to Castle Rock Edinvar.

The city's finance committee agreed to earmark proceeds to the "Live Well in Later Life" strategy.
