Sale of books raises £93k

THE annual Christian Aid book sale at St Andrew's & St George's West Church in George Street raised more than £93,000.

Among the items donated to the sale was a 12-volume set of Jane Austen's work published in Edinburgh in 1911 and a collection of books by novelist Alan Sillitoe in over 20 languages.

A cheque will be presented to Kathy Galloway, head of Christian Aid Scotland, at the morning service on Sunday. Since 1974, the sale has raised more than 1.9 million for Christian Aid.
