Sailor saved from rocks

A YACHTSMAN was rescued from an island in the Forth after his vessel ran aground yesterday morning.

The 22ft craft was left hard aground and was stuck due to a falling tide after striking Beamer Rock around 9.30am.

Crews from the RNLI Queensferry lifeboat station rescued the man, who was not injured, but had to leave the yacht on the rocks.

A spokesman for Forth Coastguard said the Queensferry crew were able to return around 7.30pm yesterday evening and managed to free the vessel as the tide had risen.
