Saddle up for capital to capital cycle

AN epic 37-hour cycle from London to Edinburgh is to be staged this summer raising money for a male cancer charity.

Orchid is looking for people to take part in the event.

The charity hopes to raise thousands of pounds for research into cancers affecting the prostate and testicles.

Teams of two will be required to enter the June event.

Rebecca Porta, the organisation's chief executive, said: "We are very excited about this event and hope it will be one of the best, not to mention one of the most demanding OrchidCycle events yet. We were keen to do something a bit different this year to really draw attention to the fact that 37,000 men in the UK are affected by male cancer every year.

"Cycling from capital to capital in just 37 hours will be a tough challenge but I think it will be extremely exciting to be apart off and importantly, will raise some much-needed awareness of the prevalence of men's cancers."

To take part, each team of two will need to raise a minimum sponsorship of 1800. To register visit www.orchid-cancer.org.uk, contact [email protected] or call 0203-4657 197/0203-4657 293.
