NO-FRILLS airline Ryanair is celebrating its four millionth passenger at Edinburgh Airport.

Since the budget carrier began operating in the Capital in 2001, it has gone from one route to 39.

The airline's Maria Macken said: "Ryanair now operates thirty-nine routes to and from Edinburgh to top European destinations including four recently-announced routes to Hamburg Lubeck, Faro, Marrakesh and Paris from May 2010, which will grow Ryanair's annual traffic at Edinburgh to over 2.5 million passengers, sustaining 2,500 local jobs."
