Runners on their marks for Paris race

A KEEN runner is set to take part in the Paris Marathon on Sunday in memory of his father, who passed away last year after suffering from skin cancer.

James Taggart and his sister, Heather, have teamed up with a group of friends to take on the 26.3-mile challenge in honour of his father Les, who died last May aged 57.

Mr Taggart, an associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Edinburgh, is a former Edinburgh University student.

The marathon will take the group from the Champs lyses to Foch Avenue, through Bastille and les Tuileries.

The eight friends have already raised more than 5000 in sponsorship for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Mr Taggart said: "We wanted to give as generous a donation as possible."
