Runner happy with his feat

A SCOTTISH fitness fanatic has failed in his attempt to break the world record for the greatest distance run on a treadmill in 24 hours.

Mark Cooper, 28, started running at 6pm on Thursday in the Corinthian nightclub in Glasgow, in a bid to run more than 160.24 miles to enter the Guinness world records.

However, he fell short when he ran out of time after 129.2 miles.

He said: "The world record was my target, but I'm over the moon anyway. To run almost 130 miles on a treadmill in 24 hours feels like a special achievement, but that's the last time I'll ever set foot on a treadmill in my life."
