Rugby legend Rowan charged with assault

FORMER Scots rugby ace Norrie Rowan has been charged with breaking into a house and assaulting the householder.

The 60-year-old businessman appeared in private before Sheriff Nigel Morrison QC at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

The ex-Scotland international made no plea or declaration to a charge of hamesucken - a Scots law term which describes a situation in which a person is said to have broken in and assaulted a property owner in their own home.
