Rugby and lifeboat stars are honoured

A PROMISING rugby ace and RNLI lifesaver are to be honoured at a community awards bash in Dunbar.

Under-17 Scotland international Robert Wilson and local lifeboat coxswain Gary Fairbairn will each receive gongs for their talent, skill and integrity.

Robert, a Dunbar Grammar School pupil, enjoyed an exceptional year on the rugby field, winning Scotland caps in youth games against England, Canada and France. He also graduated from The Performance Athletes in Schools programme and will be presented with the Bowe Cup - an annual accolade handed out to a local youngsters.

Dunbar RNLI hero Gary Fairbairn receives the Dunbar Community Council award - the adult equivalent of the Bowe Cup - for his bravery on the high seas spanning more than 15 years. The duo will collect their awards before their community on February 28.
