Royal keepsakes stay at 17.5% VAT

THE Queen has opted not to impose the new 20 per cent rate of VAT on souvenirs, including those marking the forthcoming royal wedding.

Official memorabilia from the Royal Collection to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton on 29 April has proved a hit since going on sale five days before Christmas. Profits made are used to help maintain royal residences.
