Royal High in top gear

PUPILS from six city schools made a total of 2640 journeys by bike to school and back in just three weeks as part of national cycle race the Big Pedal.

More than 800 schools across the UK took part in the challenge and competed to be the fastest.

The Royal High Primary School came first in Edinburgh after making 502 cycle journeys. It was awarded with a special framed certificate by Sustrans bike officer Lynn Stocks.

Ms Stocks said: "It was brilliant to see playgrounds full of bikes from children who had got to school under their own steam."
